History-making moments are rare. Being part of them? Even more rare. History will look back at the 2014 Rolex 24 At Daytona as the moment when United SportsCar Racing debuted and the day racing forever changed. You helped us create the United SportsCar Racing name. Now you can enter for a chance to be there when the first green flag is waved!
The concept of having you help us write history began months ago. We needed a name for our new racing series. We asked for ideas from our fans of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón and the GRAND-AM Rolex SportsCar Series.
Nearly 8,000 ideas were submitted! Louis Saterlee, 25, of Florida suggested United SportsCar Racing. What a great name, made even better by Louis’s story. He was hooked to motorsport at the age of two, was the 2011 Florida Karting Championship Series – Rookie of the Year, and has been attending both the Rolex 24 At Daytona and the Twelve Hours of Sebring with this father for 22 consecutive years!
“Sportscar racing became my religion,” explains Satterlee. As for the name? He adds, “United, because two series are now one. SportsCar because it’s what we do. And Racing because, is there really any other way these machines should be run?”
